Alas, all good things must come to an end. I’m sad to say, friends, that we’ve reached the final post in the Book Championship Tournament.
Can I take a moment and say how fun this was for me to do, and how amazing you guys were, participating and making this possible? There, I just did. 😉
But before we bid our final adieus, one thing remains. The final. Voting took place this past week, and now it’s time to announce the winner of the tournament.
Both competitors experienced historic runs through the tournament, each knocking off notable contenders on their way to the final.
Coming in to the matchup, momentum favored Narnia, as it had defeated Lord of the Rings in the round before. But as we’ve seen throughout, underestimating Ender’s Game is risky. Would Narnia fall prey to overconfidence?
From the very start, it was clear the Pevensies and company had their game hats (or should I say helms?) on. Determination glinted in the eyes of every character, the talking mice most especially. For the first time in the tournament, Ender’s Game found itself overwhelmed.
Narnia blazed to an early lead and never looked back. Sadly, for a final, the contest wasn’t as riveting as it could have been. In fact, it had “blowout” written in flashing letters. As one audience member astutely pointed out, “As suspected, Narnia is mopping the floor with Ender’s Game.”
I couldn’t think of a better description.
This was a runaway contest. To the crowd’s throbbing chants of “For Narnia and for Aslan,” Narnia raced to victory in convincing fashion.
I’m pleased to officially announce that the winner of the 2016 Book Championship Tournament is Narnia!
Three cheers for the victors.
