Shopping increases. Presents arrive on your doorstep. Snow and hot chocolate and Christmas trees abound.
Christmas is almost here.
Continuing with the 12 Days of Christmas mini-series, we’re back to the land of Geekville. Last time, we found out what fantasy and sci-fi characters want for Christmas. Now it’s time to ask them what their favorite Christmas songs and movies are.
(Because yes, of course they celebrate Christmas even though they live in other worlds, or alternate realities, or the future. That’s just how it works, people.)
Favorite Christmas Songs and Movies
Pippin: My favorite song is Frosty the Snowman. Makes me laugh every time I hear it. For favorite movie, Elf. He’s sooo funny I nearly split a seam laughing every time I watch it.
Baby Groot: I am Groot! (Translation: favorite song is All I want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth and favorite movie is Mickey’s Christmas Carol.)
Amy Pond: Well of course, my favorite movie is Polar Express. It’s about dreams coming true. What could be better? My song is The Little Drummer Boy, because I can just picture this little boy playing his drum. It’s so beautiful.
Frodo: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is my favorite movie. It’s a perfect example of an underdog story, and how even small characters are important. As for song, I have to choose Auld Lang Syne, even though it’s more of a New Year’s tradition.
Tony Stark: Santa Baby all the way. We play that every year at my office. True story, it’s actually my ringtone in December. A close second is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree. That’s a bonus—be grateful. Favorite movie? Die Hard. Don’t ask why. It’s tradition.
Harry Potter: My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story, because the main character gets in trouble a lot and I that’s something I can identify with. Favorite song is I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.
Peter Parker: My favorite movie is any Star Wars movie…What? I’m not allowed to pick that? But they comes out at Christmas…Okay, fine. I’ll go with A Charlie Brown Christmas. Who doesn’t enjoy that? My favorite song is A Holly Jolly Christmas.
Captain America: I love the classics. White Christmas by Bing Crosby, and It’s A Wonderful Life. Can’t beat them.
Gandalf: Jingle Bells and Miracle on 34th Street. I have an affinity for old, bearded men.
Data: Selecting favorites is something to which I am unaccustomed. Being an android, I do not have favorites. However, for the purpose of the question, and to maintain a holiday spirit, my answers are I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and The Santa Clause.
Yoda: Many songs of Christmas I like, but no favorite I pick. With movies, the same.
Inigo Montoya: I am not a man given much to Christmas tastes. Other things occupy my mind. Yet I will say I enjoy listening to I’ll Be Home for Christmas and watching Meet Me in St. Louis. Not that I think I’ll be home for Christmas or that I’ll meet any in St. Louis—though it’s nice to dream about.
Loki: My favorite movie, if I must pick, is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. A classic, and one which deserves more attention and love. My song of choice is Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.
Smaug: Run Rudolph Run and Scrooge.
Reepicheep: I love Christmas, especially since Aslan banished the White Witch and we Narnians can celebrate it again. The song I pick is What Child Is This? It’s hard to select my favorite movie, but I will choose White Christmas.
Katniss: It’s not my favorite, exactly, but I like I’ll Have Blue Christmas. I can relate to the words. Favorite movie is easily Babes in Toyland, the Laurel and Hardy version.
What’s your favorite Christmas song and movie? I’d love to hear your thoughts here or on social media.

This was awesome! You captured their personalities well.
Favorite Christmas movie… ahhh, picking just one is hard… but I’d have to say either “The Night They Saved Christmas” or … um… well, It’s a Wonderful Life, of course.
Favorite Christmas song… um… I’m with Yoda on this one.
Thanks, Jenelle. I was trying to pick choices that made sense for each character.
My favorite movie is either It’s a Wonderful Life or White Christmas.
Haha, yeah, favorite song is hard to pick.
These are so fun! I love Cap’s answer. Of course he’d pick the oldies-but-goodies. 🙂
I’m also amused by Loki’s choice. I agree. How the Grinch Stole Christmas was my childhood. It needs more recognition! 🙂
I appreciate it, Madeline. Glad you enjoyed it. Yep, I barely had to think about Cap’s answer. It practically wrote itself.
I figured Loki would appreciate the Grinch’s story. LOL
I loved this post. You did a great job matching characters to classic songs and movies.
My favorite song is a newer one, Light of Christmas by Owl City and Toby Mac.
For my favorite movie I don’t know if this should count but this Canadian series The Murdoch Mysteries has the most trope filled Christmas episode ever. It’s so awesome, it just came out last year but it went straight to the top of the must watch list this year. The title is A Merry Murdoch Christmas.
Thanks, Cathrine.
I haven’t heard of that specific song, but I know Owl City well and am familiar with some of Toby Mac’s songs. I haven’t heard of the TV series either, but it sounds entertaining.
