Anastasia.
You might know her story.
But you don’t know all of it.
Before we go on, what does the background have to do with a cover reveal?
A) What good’s a cover (and it’s quite the cover) without a delightful story to guard and hint at?
B) It builds suspense about what the cover looks like. Because I’m not showing you yet. Because it’s more fun that way.
What’s Romanov About?
Oh, you know.
Romance…
Adventure…
Smuggling…
Magic…
Just your typical historical fare (#not). With all the boring stuff left out, and all the wow-this-sounds-awesome parts included.
This delicious blurb already has me excited for the full tale, and we haven’t even gotten to the main event (I promise the cover reveal is coming…sometime 😉 ):
The history books say I died.
They don’t know the half of it.
Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov was given a single mission: to smuggle an ancient spell into her suitcase on her way to exile in Siberia. It might be her family’s only salvation. But the leader of the Bolshevik army is after them . . . and he’s hunted Romanov before.
Nastya’s only chances of survival are to either release the spell, and deal with the consequences, or enlist help from Zash, the handsome soldier who doesn’t act like the average Bolshevik. Nastya’s never dabbled in magic before, but it doesn’t frighten her as much as her growing attraction for Zash. She likes him. She thinks he might even like her . . .
That is, until she’s on one side of a firing squad . . . and he’s on the other.
Um, yes please. Nadine’s books are to readers what double-stuff Oreos are to an Oreo-holic.
Let’s see what this cover has to say for itself.

BOOM!
Isn’t that…well, I’m not quite sure what to say. It’s unlike any other of Nadine’s covers. And yet, it has a charm, an elegance, a subtle and fitting beauty to it. A cover should paint a picture of the story within, and I think this one does a fantastic job.
It makes me think of quaint Russian villages. Snow wafting on a soft breeze at dusk. And intrigue. Much intrigue.
It’s magical quality beckons and tantalizes. I love it, and I can’t wait for the book.
Speaking of which…
Romanov Details
First off, the bad news. If you’ve already prepared an open spot on your shelf for this stunning book, keep your feather duster ready. Because it won’t release until May 7, 2019.
But before you cry a bucket of tears and binge eat an entire month’s worth of [insert favorite sweet and scrumptious dessert], GO PRE-ORDER ROMANOV BECAUSE YOU CAN DO THAT ALREADY! Then you can skip the tears and eat your dessert anyway. 😛
Finally, like Nadine’s last book, Fawkes, this is a standalone story. And in case it wasn’t clear (or in case you skipped everything at the beginning because you wouldn’t be satisfied until you saw the cover—ahem, for shame, for shame), Romanov is a historical fantasy retelling of Anastasia aimed at a YA audience.
There ya go. Romanov revealed in all its cover glory. Now to be patient until next May. 😉
